The Washington Dinner Club is an early-stage venture fund co-managed by New Vantage Group. The Fund focuses on technology opportunities in the Washington, DC area. The Club's 75 limited partners, also called members, are experienced angel investors that add value to portfolio companies' growth. Members are required to invest $150,000.
The Washington Dinner Club is managed by John May and Cal Simmons, founders of the Club. The Club invests $500,000-$1,000,000 in each company, and expects to make 8 to 12 investments over the life of this fund. The Club typically co-invests with other venture funds in Mid-Atlantic companies that are raising $1-5M. The Club focuses on disruptive and platform technologies in the telecom, IT and biotech spaces. Other than real estate, retail, manufacturing, and entertainment industries the Club will consider a broad range of early-stage technology investment opportunities.
This Fund is fully invested as of September 2004 (See Washington Dinner Club Portfolio). Management and members are working with the portfolio companies to build and prepare for exit.
